WAIKATO SUB-CENTRE SUCCESSFUL SEASON [from OUR OWN' correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday "The past season has been one of the most successful in the history of the centre," said Mr. (i C. A. (Jould, in presenting the report of the NVnikato sub-centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic. Association at the annual meeting last evening. It was stated that a record number of athletes had registered with the centre, and a member had for the first time annexed a New Zealand title, while representatives had been success- i fill in the Auckland provincial competitions. : The following officers were elected:—Presi- : dent, Mr. G. C. A. Gould; secretary and ; treasurer, Mr. J. M. Armstrong; handicapper, | Mr. G. H. Weir; starter, Mr. R. L. Mander- ! son. It was decided to apply for the holding! of the Auckland provincial championships at , Hamilton. The following dates were allotted:—Anniversary Day, Te Awamutu; Easter Monday, Ngaainapouri; January 1, Whatawhata. 2000 METRES RUN HUNGARIAN'S RECORD BUDAPEST, Oct. 5 I A Hungarian athlete, Szabo, ran 2000 j metres to-day in 5m 'JO.-4s —a world record. i
