PARTIAL AGREEMENT
MEAT FREEZING WORKERS HEARING IN CONCILIATION [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A partial agreement was readied by the Conciliation Council in the Dominion dispute between meat freezing works employees and meat freezing companies. The hearing was concluded to-night, discussions being held in committee. . The clauses relating to rates of pay for hourly workers and ordinary hours of work were referred to the Arbitration Court. Piece-work rates, of pay were fixed, and most of the other terms agreed upon. TIMBER AND GOLD DREDGING COMPLETE AGREEMENTS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] GREYMOUTH, Wednesday The clerk of awards, Mr. Frank Bird, successfully deputised for the commissioner in Conciliation Council to-day, and complete agreements were reached both in the timber industry and the dredging and alluvial goldmining industry disputes. Tributes were paid to Mr. Bird by spokesmen of all parties. The timber workers' wages and condition arc substantially restored to the 1931 levels, and the dredge and alluvial miners' wages arb increased to the following daily rates:—Engineers, carpenters, electricians, welders, amalgamators, engine drivers and bush foremen, £1; winehinen, 19s; panners-off, motormen, bush winchmcn, tractor drivers, 18s; others, 17s. A special proviso is that the minimum wage of alluvinl miners shall be 16s a day. DEATH IN 80TH YEAR MOTHER STILL LIVING DAUGHTER OF CENTENARIAN [BY TELEGRAM —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Wednesday The death has occurred in Dunodin of Mrs. Rosevearo, in her 80th year. She was a daughter of Mrs. M. A. Crocome, who celebrated her 102 nd birthday in Dunedin on September 14.
