SHORTAGE OF TEACHERS
POSITION IN SOUTHLAND % _ A member of the Southland Education 'Board stated recently that not for many years had the board experienced such a shortage of schoolteachers. To cope with the increased demand for competent teachers the board had been forced to enlist .fcho services of many retired teachers, in some cases married ex-members of the profession. Such a position was attributable to the increase in the number of pupils since the reintroduction of the jßvo-year age limit.
