FINES INCREASED
SPEEDING OFFENCES , ■ OTAHUHU PROSECUTIONS Increased fines for breaches of the new speed limit of 30 miles an hour were imposed at the Otahuhu Court yesterday by the presiding justices, Messrs/S. Rickards and J. V. Lawes. Ten defendants, including a woman driver, were convicted and penalties ranging to £3 10s' and costs were inflicted. The speeds were stated to have been frpm 30 to 42* miles an hour. "I was advised before I left Wellington that I should be careful, as the traffic regulations were very efficiently superviced in this district," stated a defendant, who pleaded he had only been a short time in Auckland and was not familiar with the township areas.
