PIRATE SHIP
A pack of cards much magnified provided the setting for the "Full Hand" old-time carnival dance at the Pirate Ship on Saturday night. There was a very large gathering of dancers, and the' true carnival spirit prevailed. The stage setting illustrated on a large scale various full hands at poker, supplying a very bright colour note to the background. The platform was flanked on either side by large figures in colour of the king and queen of hearts, the setting being completed by framings of large-sized playing cards of various denominations. The joker, too, had a place, and in cut-out figures he adorned the cubicles and pillars throughout the hall. These were eagerly sought as souvenirs of the evening. The carnival spirit was further emphasised with coloured streamers and balloons. The Pirate Ship Band provided an excellent dance programme.
