STRAND EXTENSION SCHEME [by TELEGRAPH —OWN* correspondent] WHAKATANE, Sunday The dangerous position in regard to the Wkakatane River groynes was considered at" a meeting of the Wliakatane Harbour Board, and it was decided to carry ouid complete repair Work, for which tenders are to bo called. The reclamation deadlock took on a new phase when a modified plan of subdivision of the Strand Extension was discussed. Eventually it was agreed that a plan of the Strand Extension, as suggested by the Mayor, dealing with sections one to eight only, shou|d be submitted to the Borough Council for approval. The agreements with property owners 011 the Strand Extension route were referred to a committee. A formal application is to be made to the Crown for a title to the area claimed. It was decided to purchase a ne<launch for harbour needs.
