DOMINION TOURNEY CONTESTS AT WELLINGTON [BY TELEGRAPH —PEESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Sunday The finals have been reached in all except two classes in the New Zealand amateur boxing championships and they will be contested at the Town Hall tomorrow night. All the contestants in last night's bouts gave aggressive displays and had a crowd of 1500 in a state of excitement. Results were as follows: — Light-heavy-weight.—Semi-finals: J. SEMI AND LUTTRELL Semi, the heavy-weight boxing champion of Fiji and Tonga, will make his second appearance at the Town Hall this evening, when he will be opposed by the New Zealand heavy-weight Val Lnttrell. A splendid record of 20 wins in succession by knockouts is possessed by Semi, who made his debut in Auckland a fortnight ago against the Australian Claude Nicol. After knocking down Nicol in the first ronnd of that contest. Semi tried for five more ronnds lo finish the Australian, bnt he was unsuccessful and was taking the fight more easily in order to get. ready for a fresh onslaught when he was hit with a low punch winch earned disqualification for his opponent. The bout has assisted Semi greatly and he will be in excellent condition for to-night s contest. The New Zealander followed a number of successes in New Zealand with a successful campaign in Australia, and interest will nttach to his first appearance In the Auckland ring. The professional contest will be supported by an excellent programme of amateur bouts.
