WOMAN AT DUNEDIN TERM OF SIX MONTHS [Br TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Saturday "This woman is an accomplished criminal. She lias already answered charges of arson, breaking and enter-i ing, theft, falso pretences and receiving stolen goods," said tho police when Doris May Adams, 28, alias McKcgg, pleaded guilty in tho Police Court to the theft of two frocks valued at £l3 13s from a city shop and the theft of a handbag and purse with £2 2s 9d in money. The chief detective stated that accused, who was employed as a hotel waitress at Invcrcargill, arrived last night with Is 9d in her possession. She booked at a hotel and went into a shop with ti suitcase, stealing a bag from a counter where a customer had placed it, then proceeding to another shop, where she was detected stealing dresses. Counsel said that accused was married with two children. She took work at Invcrcargill to get a home for them. If given a chance she would settle with her husband at Mossburn. In inflicting a sentence of six months, the magistrate remarked that accused had a long record and had been on probation before.
