ONEHUNGA INTERESTS
A motion protesting against the recent increase in workers' weekly tram tickets was proposed by Mr. S. Bishop at the Onchuaga Borough Council meeting last evening, but lapsed for want of a seconder. Mr. H. R. Bach, the newly-appointed borough engineer, advised that he would take up his duties 011 September 14. Mr. M. C. Barnctt tendered his resignation as chairman of the Reserves Committee, owing to pressure of business, and the Mayor, Mr. J. Park, submitted a re-draft of tho Standing Committees of tho councjl. This was adopted. The Auckland Transport Board wrote agreeing to bear one-half the cost of an approved tram shelter at Royal Oak, and tho Mount Roskill Road Board indicated its support of a shelter at this stopping place. The Transport Board's offer was accepted subject to the Mount Roskill Road Board paying one-quarter of the cost, the Onehunga Council to pay a similar amount. in reply to the Gloucester _ Cycle Club's request to hold bicycle races at Waikaraka Park during the coming summer, tho • council decided that in view of tho unfinished state of tho park and tho work still to be undertaken the club be advised to renew its application later in the year.
