CHARGES OF THEFT "You are a young man with a wife find family, and T am not going to send you to prison this time," said Mr. Wvvern Wilson, S.M., in tho Police Court yesterday to Erie Phillip Pearce Cameron, plasterer, aged 22, who appeared for sentence on a charge of stealing an engagement ring, valued at £lO, the property of JefFry Henry Cheney Hart. Tho magistrate said that when he heard tho case lie came t.o the conclusion that accused had yielded to sudden temptation, but a report from tho probation officer showed that ho yielded to temptation too easily. Accused was admitted to probation for two years, and ordered to make restitution of £2 received when he pledged the ring. Appearing for sentence on a charge of stealing n wallet and a scarf valued at £1 -Is 5d from a city store, George Cunningham, labourer, aged 02, also admitted stealing other articles valued at 8s 9d vhieh were found on him when, arrested. Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. On a charge of stealing £1 10s, the property of Ernest Boss Massov, a fruiterer, James William Butler, aged 24, was remanded for a week. Bail was fixed at £lO.
