INTERNATIONAL CLUB

Y.W.C.A. RECEPTION New Zealand's two troubadours, the Misses Joan and Betty "Rayner, were entertained at a reception given by tho Y.W.C.A. International Club on Saturday night. An account of their trip to Canada, where they stayed for some time on an island in the St. Lawrence River, was given by Miss Joan Rayner, who said that in a tiny French village there they gathered many folk songs and ballads for their repertoir-3. They stayed three months in London and it was here that they bought the caravan which is now always associated with them. Painted in primrose and green, this little travelling homo attracted much attention both in England and on the Continent. Miss Betty Rayner spoke of the visit of herself and her sister to Sweden and Germany, where everyone was delighted to help them in their search for folk-songs. An address by Mrs. Bradstrect, president of the international Council, on the international aspect of the Y.W.C.A., was listened to with interest. The programme also included pianoforte solo-i by Miss L. Bungay and instrumental trios by Mrs. Lysaeht and the Misses D. Higham and Fenton. During the serving of supper the Misses Ravner were able to meet again many of their old Auckland friends.
