SAFE BLOWN OPEN
THIEVES STEAL £4O EVIDENCE OF HASTY EXIT [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Sunday Thieves blew open the safe of Mossman 1 and Company's office in Market Street last night and stole £-40 in notes. The affair happened early in the evening, for when Mr. A. J. C. Runciman, the occupant of an adjoining office, arrived shortly after eight o'clock there was a strong smell of gelignite fumes in the passage. Upon investigation he found Mosfman and Company's office filled with smoke and the door of the safe blown off. He nt once notified the police. It is believed the thieves were disturbed by Mr. Runciman's arrival, since there was evidence of a hurried departure. Entry to the premises apparently was gained by way of a narrow lane at the back of the building.
