LONG AMBULANCE TRIP
Sir.—We should be glad if you would correct a wrong impression to be gained from your report on "Long Ambulance Trip" in the Herat.d of August 11. Owing to the activities of the ratepayers, assisted in no small part by Mr. J. N. Massev, chairman of tha Franklin County Council, all the main roads of the Awhitu district have been metalled in the last few years. It is contrary to fact that tho ambulance encountered "many stretches of clav road." At the most it only covered about 12 chains. The ambulance reached the injured man's gate, and he was not carried "half a mile over the impassable road." W. H. Colukck, Hon. Secretary, Awhitu Ratepayers' Association.
