SMALL CAR OVERTURNS
MAN HURLED THROUGH ROOF ACCIDENT NEAR POKENO Hurled through the roof of a small saloon motor-car when it overturned three times and landed in a ditch at Pokeno shortly before one o'clock yesterday afternoon, Mr. Frederick Prior, aged .'i.'i, a storekeeper on the motorliner Rangitata, suffered injuries to his ribs. After receiving medical attention he was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition last night was not serious. Mr. Prior's companions, members of the crew of the Rangitata, also were injured. Mr. Alexander Marshall Cooke, who was driving the car, was hurt in the right leg, and Mr. William O'Shanahan suffered an injury to his head. They were taken to the Auckland Hospital with Mr. Prior, but were discharged after attention in the casualty department. The accident occurred at the foot of the Razorback deviation. The three men were proceeding to Hamilton, and the driver gave way to an approaching motor-car. His own car went off the road and overturned three times, coming to rest in a 2ft. ditch, badly damaged. First aid was given by a passing doctor, and the men were brought to Auckland in an ambulance called from the city.
