NEW PLYMOUTH NEWS COURSE PROPER GALLOPS FERSEN GOES SOUNDLY [by telegraph—own* correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday The approach of the combined limits meeting is making training operations moro interesting at New Plymouth nnd this morning there were nearly 40 horses working. All the galloping took place on the course proper, with the flaps out about 18ft. From a standing start, Brilliancy ran six furlongs in 1.23 1-5. He moved evenly all the way and finished strongly. It was a pleasing effort for a maiden.

The Madam Ristori filly did useful pace-work on the inside. She is a nippylooking filly who looks sure to show a lot of pace. Royal Secret, who looks well, strode out freely over a couple of circuits on the inside. A similar task was allotted to Court Anna. As he has been nominated for the Hurdlo Race on the second day of the hunt meeting, it would appear as though he is to be put to the jumping game almost immediately. He jumped one fence in great stylo on Wednesday. Sporting Song, who has just been reeommissioned, was let off with easy work. Ho looks bright and well. Bantry, who has freshened up a lot since Trentham, was given half-pace work. Jumping off at the mile and aquarter post, Fersen covered his first four furlongs at half-pace, but then speeded up to run tho last six in 1.21 1-5. He infused plenty of dash into his work and came homo full ol' running. Ho continues to make splendid progress.

Mowgli did easy pace-work. The halfbrother to Forestry is a likely looking sort, possessing plenty of size. Card Sharper and the Captain Hunsby gelding did two rounds of sharp half-pace work on the inside. Card Sharper is a smooth mover for a big horse. Clessamor was too good for Tomoana over five furlongs in 1.5 3-5. They ran the first two in 25s and three in 37£s, but Clessamor finished full of running. He continues to make marked improvement, but is not likely to race until the Avondale meeting. Ngatirahiri and Cnlshot hit out freely over two rounds on the inside. They are in good order. Winsome Lu shaded Carleaf at the end of half a mile in 5Js. Winsome Lu is shaping attractively, while Carleaf is showing improvement. Aussie Ra, Davistoek antl Script were associated in a good working gallop over six furlongs, the last live occupying 1.13. Aussie Ha and Davistoek were moving well at the finish. Tho former has come to hand quickly and will probably bo given a race at the hunt meeting. The hunter White Heron showed a nice turn of pace to finish in front of Kaola over three furlongs in 4'2Js. White Heron, who is to compete in the Hunters' Flat events at the coming meeting, will bo tho of the progeny of Stork to race. Kaola is looking bright and muscular. Don Erin a and Cynical Hoy strode over two circuits at a solid half-pace. Don Erma is looking well, while Cynical Hoy appears to have gone on the right way since winning at the point-to-point meeting. Ringside, who has been purchased by a patron of R. Harlow's stable, will commence work next week. The same trainer is also receiving a four-vear-old mare by Colossus from Piuthair. She is expected to arrive on Monday.
