P Erideati, M.P., was a mssenger for Wellington by last night's express. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coatos and Mrs, Coates returned from Wellington on Saturday. Mr. E. L. Cullen, M.l\ for Hawke's Bay, and .Mrs. Cullen arrived by the limited express on Saturday. Dr. E. P. Neale, secretary to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, roturned from Wellington on Saturday Mr. ,1. A. Lee, Parliamentary Undersecretary to the Prime Minister arrived by the limited express rom Wellington on Saturday. Mr. C. Clark, who for the past two years has been postmaster at Whangarei, has received advice of his promotion to the position of postmaster at Hastings. Mr. J. W. Matthewson, general manager of the Union Steam Ship Company, who has been on a trip to Holland and the East, will arrive at Auckland by the Narbada on September 4.
The Hon. C. .J. Carrinpton nnd tho Hon. J. Trcvethick, M.L.C.'s, and Mr. W. T. Anderton and Mr. F. \V. Schramm, M.P.'s, arrived from Wellington by the limited express on Saturday. Mr. H Murray Peid. assistant engineer of the Otnmatoa. County Coi ncil, North Auckland, has been appo ntcd to a similar position with the I);.nnevirke County Council, from among 50 applicants. Dean J. B. Brocklehursi, of Napier, who is visiting England to raise funds for the reconstruction of the Napier Cathedral, destroyed in the "1031 earthquake, expects to leave England on October VI and arrive in Auckland on November 18. Mr. J. W. Hcenan, Undcr-Secinitary of the Department of Interna] Affairs, arrived yesterday morning to take part in a conference of North Shore local bodies to be held this evening on the subject of amalgamation. He is a; the Grand Hotel. Lieut.-Commissioner F. H. Adams, territorial commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, and Brigadier S. Smith, principal, of the Salvation Armv Training College. Wellington, arrived in Auckland on Saturday to attend a conference of the Auckland doling People's Council, held in the Unity Hall yesterday. They will return to Wellington by the limited express this evening.
