VICTORIAN BUDGET
RELIEF FOR TAXPAYERS SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION (Received August 4, 11.55 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August <1 The Victorian Budget was presented in the Legislative Assembly to-day. It makes provision for a substantial reduction in taxation and tho complete restoration of public servants' salary cuts. Concessions to taxpayers total £280,000. The super land tax of 5 per cent will be abolished and the unemployment relief tax will be reduced 10 per cent. The revenue for tho past year was £2.'3,92.'J,000 and the expenditure £24,0;}8,000, leaving a deficit of £115,000. It is estimated that the deficit for the coming year will be £IIO,OOO.
