WORK ON DIET TBACK CIMARRON SPRINTS WELL PROLETARIAN ALSO PLEASES BY AHAYDOS All tracks at Epsom wore in fmc order yesterday morning, the footing 011 the dirt being particularly good. Cimarron recorded the bent sprint, finishing a sound two miles in 1.5 for the last half-mile. .Proletarian, 1.5 2-5, Lucky Love, 1.5 .'3-5, and Star Pronto, 1.6, also showed speed. Other good half-mile efforts were those of Munga Tangi, 1.7 2-5, Stargum and Young Rodney, 1.0, and Musketeer, J.lO. Proletarian (L. Lavor) led out from Cimarron (1. R. Morrison) from the two miles, and set a solid clip, running the first mile and a-quarter in 2.57. Five furlongs from homo the rate was increased, Cimarron reaching his companion half a furlong from the post. They finished on terms in 4..'57, the last mile in 2.1.'} 2-5. Proletarian staved on well, going 4.38, the last half in 1.5 2-5.

Young Rodney (W. Willetts) was always on the outside of Autumn Lu (G. H. Stubbs) in a solid two miles, but he finished on the better, registering 4.54. The first mile showed 2.32, but Young Rodney trotted tho next one in 2.22, the last half in 1.9. Autumn Lu went more evenly than in somo previous efforts. Bismuth (A. McGarry), nnhoppled, worked a strong two miles, increasing tho speed to a 2.30 rate for tho last six furlongs. He is still too. robust, but in good health. Lucky Love's Two Runs

Going free-legged, Lucky Love (W. Willetts) worked a steady mile and ahalf, tho last nine furlongs at a 2.25 gait, and the final half in 1.10. On being geared up, he was given a second task, going away about two seconds behind Star Pronto (13. Dyer), who led throughout a milo and a-half in 3.26, the last half in 1.6. Star Pronto was always going smoothly and could have improved on the time. Lucky Love recorded .'3.24 .3-5, and for tho Inst half, 1.5 3-5. He showed improved stamina. Bedford (F. Herring, jun.) went away several lengths ahead of Tangaroa (C. 0. Lee) from the two miles, the latter finishing slightly in front in 4.57. The last mile and a-half showed 3.37, Tangaroa going 1.10 3-5 for tho final half, and Bedford 1.11. Stargum (G. Webb) beat Golden Bramble (C. Goodall) and Student Prince (A. McGarry) over 10 furlongs in 2.55. He went free-legged and ran the last half in 1.9. Student Prince went 2.56 2-5.

Sequoia (W. Fleming) and the Peter Bingen filly (C. G. Loe) worked four rounds, increasing to a 2.40 gait for the final circuit.

Margaret Bond (L. Cavalier) was not fully extended over two miles, but put some dash into a couple of sprints along the back. Jewel Crest (W. Willetts) and the Truman Direct colt (T. Carlyon) worked usefully over a mile and ahalf. The Jewel Pointer pacer is a solid type. Munga Tangi's Task

King's Knight (A. W. Broughton), unhopplcd, the Nelson Derby gelding (C. G. Lee), Charteris Bay (A. Cole) and Munga Tangi (L. Laver) left the mile and a-half as named, being joined at the mile and a-quarter by Musketeer (P. M. King's Knight broke before going a half, and the Nelson Derby gelding followed suit after going attractively for a mile in 2.27. Munga Tangi took charge at the two fuVlongs and came on to score comfortably in 3.33, the last half in 1.7 2-5. Musketeer showed 2.57 for the milo and a-quarter, tho last half in 1.10, while Charteris Bay ran 3.37. The brother to Nelson Pirate (J. Mahoney) went away three seconds ahead of Hingen Sun (G. Webb) and was followed a second later by Great Sonoma (C. G. Smith), but the lastnamed was pulled up. With six furlongs to go, Gold Pointer (T. Carlyon) joined in, and in good finish, they crossed the line together, Bingen Sun registering 5.1. He trotted very comfortably, the last mile and a-half in 3.41, and the final half in 1.12 3-5. For a novice the relative to Nelson Pirate gave a sound display, going 5.4, the last mile and a-quarter in 3.6. Gold Pointer finished on very resolutely and registered 1.12 for tho last half.

Going the reverso way, Great Sonoma trotted two miles in 5.5, the final half in. 1.12.

Fresh arrivals at Epsom arc Kewpie's King and Dean Parrish, who have joined C. Goodall's stable, and a six-year-old full-sister to Kuini, in L. J. Mahoney's team. WORK AT TE AWAMUTU PRIVY SEAL SHOWS PACE [BY TELEGRArn —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday The going was soft for fast work at Tc Awamutu this morning, when the course proper, with the flags out 30ft., was available for galloping. Among the horses to work on the inside grass was Gallio, who was sent three furlongs, and could have improved upon his 41 l-ss. He is in excellent order to commence the season.

Jonathan, bearing a healthy appearance, came home tho last four of live furlongs in 565. Quadroon took 55s for a similar journey. An unnamed Ruapapa-Sibford gelding was given two short sprints up the straight and made a good impression. Lady Voyonne could liavo bettered her 44s for three furlongs. Cyllaros ran tho same distance in 43 2-ss.

Tuaheahe, who began slowly from the six-furlong post, ran the last three in 44 l-ss. donation was worked over five furlongs, but was not above threequarter pace. Dolrain had an advantage over .1.11 uminagli at the conclusion of a milo in 2.2. Musqnil, with Clieval do Voice as companion, went four furlongs in 58s. For tho benefit of trainers with two-year-olds the course next tho rail was available. The Lord Warden filly Privy Seal was responsible for the best effort of the morning when she came home nicely from the three furlongs in 38 4-ss, the last two in 25 3-ss. Privy Seal's prospects look bright. British Nation placed two furlongs behind in 27 l-ss. Tho following were given light work on the course proper:—The Captain Biinsbv —Prophet's Mark filly Lady Moath, the General Latour —Whitobird gelding and tho Bronze Eagle—March gelding.

TRAINER RETURNS

E. J. KENNERLEY FROM SYDNEY

Tho trotting trainer 13. J. Kennerloy returned from Sydney by tho Marama yesterday, bringing with him the five-year-old bay mare Princess Onyx, bv Native King from Onyx. Kennerloy has been in Australia for almost two years and. met with a fair measure of success over there, his principal winners being Red Direct and Remember Mo.

Kennerley was much impressed with Lawn Derby, whom he said was one of tiie best pacers he had scon. Kennerley stated that in the course of conversation with W. J. O'Sliea recently he gathered that Lawn Derby was practically certain to visit .New Zcu-
