Finlay, who has been appointed captain of the British Olympic track team, is one of the finest athletes produced by the Air Force, which he joined as aircraftsman. He is now a pilot officer. Sweeney, Holmes and A. Pennington (Oxford University) will compete in the 100 and 200 metres. Brown, Rampling and Roberts are the 400 metres men. Powell, Handiey and B. McCabe will represent Britain in the 800 metres, while Wooderson, Graham and Cornes will be the 1500 metres hopes. Ward, Reeve and Close are chosen for the 5000 metres race; Burns, J. Katon and J. Potts will contest the 10,000 metres event; while Robertson, Harper and A. Norris will appear 1 i the marathon. The field event representatives include: Finlay, Pilbrown and Thornton (110 metres hurdles), Sheffield (400 metres hurdles), West (high jump), Traynor (long jump), Boyce (hop, step and jump), and Webster (uole vault).
