PENWOMEN'S CLUB

An address on the "Evolutions of Humour" was given by Mr. J. Kealv on Friday afternoon to the Penwomen's Club. "Humour," he said, "is largely dependent on time and place." In humour what was one man's meat was another man's poison. The humour characteristic of several well-known writers was discussed by the speaker, who also read extracts. He concluded by saying that, while humour became out-of-date, pathos never did. Humorous extracts were read from "Great Expectations" (Dickons), from Jerome K. Jerome and "The Jumping Frog" (Mark Twain) by Mrs. Kealy, Mrs. Nello Porter and the lecturer. Mrs. Carr Rollett presided.
