DANCE AT AKA AKA

A successful dance and card evening organised by the Aka Aka Women's Institute was hold in the local hall Inst week. The Auckland Blind Institute Dance Orchestra supplied a programme of excellent dance music. The stage setting was gay and striking. Bunches of bare, slender branches were massed in tall stands and adorned with large gold and red gleaming celophane flowers and dark green lejives. Low-set clusters of wattle and palms in high stands lent a softening and graceful note to the general effect. Supper was served b.v the members of the committee, assisted by Mesdames Geo. McConnell, C. McNamara, W. Louden, Wills and members of the junior circle. Mr. and Mrs. Sutton (Hauraki) and Mr. Craig and Mrs. Kay Garland were the winners of two novelty dances. The progressive euchre prizes were won by Mrs. H. Sutton (first lady's prize), Mr. W. J. Jolly (first men's prize), Mrs. W. Louden (second lady's prize) and Mr. T. blackmore (second men's prize). The ladies of the committee present were:—Mesdames D. R. Anderson, who wore black georgette and lace and black velvet coatee; Mrs. W. J. Jolly, blue ring velvet; Mrs. H. J. Mclntyre, cherry red crinkled marocain and cream bridge coat; Mrs. J. Hill, wine crepe de chine; Mrs. N. Wise, magnolia satin and lace ; Mrs. W. M. Campbell, cream silk woven lace and black panne velvet; Miss 1. Jolly, shell pink tinsel crepe; Miss I. Louden, eau de nil satin beaute.
