TAKAPUNA BOATING CLUB
DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES The annual presentation of prizes won by members of the Takapuna floating Club was held in Ihe clubhouse, Rayswater. oa Saturday night, in the presence of a large number of members and visitors. The guests were welcomed by the commodore, Mr. R. Waddell. He said that the club had had a very successful season. He paid a tribute to the services rendered by Messrs. N. Mntheson and J. Mackay, who had taken a keen interest in teaching the younger members the practical side of yacht racing. Captain 11. 11. Sergeant, patron, who presented the prizes, congratulated the club on its steady progress, lie saiil that a featwre of tho past season was the annual contest for tho Cornwell Cup. which had been carried out to a very successful issue by the club. All were pleased that Auckland had won the cup, but had it gone south or elsewhere the club would have been just as pleased to offer its congratulations to the winners As Tauranga had won tho cup in 1035 it was entitled to hold the contest there this year, but that port had agreed to allow tin? race to take place in Auckland. In view of this arrangement- the 1037 contest for tho Cornwell Clip would be held at. Tauranga. (Mptain Sergeant also referred to tho large number of 7, class boats (12ft (tin) which were being built in Auckland for tho 1035-30 racing season. The most important prizes wero won by the following:—Trevic Shield, Hilly Roy, representing the Victoria Cruising Club and sailed by C. Dennes; lilonifield Points Shield (/, class championship), Te Tltii; Fortzer Cup (runner-up for Rlomfield Shield), Trevic; Rellliooth Cup To Utu; Winstono trophy, Komuri; Coltman Clip, Surprise; Sports Cup, Avon (sailed 'by \V. Aspden); Jubilee Cup, Shalimar; Goodfellowship Cup contest, Takapuna v. Manukau, won by Takapuna, represented by Messrs. ,T. Mackay and N. Matheson; Goodfellowship Cup contest, Takapuna v. Point Chevalier, won by Point Chevnlicr. rep resented by Messrs. A. Willetts and W. Oliver; Ttiirnet-t Cup, Secret; Juvenile Harmony Cup, Takapuna v. Mnnukan, won by Manukau, represented by Musters J. Taylor and F Marks. Other prize-winners were:—Z class. StarIna, Tantaki; Trevic, Renny, Rarioni, Hilly Roy, Water licet 10, To Utu, Tornado, Tanliau. Class T: Vamp, Shalimar. Class Y: Rebel, Stormy. Tempest, Mania. Class V: Volox, Avian. Surprise. Class M: Manaia, Maneno. Class S: Tiki, Secret, Kangatira. Class \V": Wimmora, Wakanul. Midget, class: Valorio, Flying Cloud, Wlietu. Class X: Komuri, Marika, Melita. Keel yachts: Vagabond, Koninl. Naval whalers: R.N.V.R. No. 1.
