LAMBS RATHER EASIER RISE IN CHILLED BEEP The following private cablegrams, dealing with the Smithfield meat market, have been received:— Bank of New Zealand.—Wethers: There is a moderate demand and prices are firm. Ewes: There is only a poor demand. Lambs: Demand is not so good and the market is rather easier. Quotations: Wethers, light, 4Jd to 6d per lb.; heavy, 3Jd to 4Jd; ewes, 3}d to 4id; lambs, twos, 7d to 7:' 4 d; eights, figd to 6jjd; fours, 6Jd to seconds, 6Jd to 6|d. Now Zealand Meat Producers' Board. —Lambs: Demand is good, with prices steady, except soconU quality, which aro slightly weaker. Consumption is satisfactory. Mutton: Wethers are meeting with fair trade, with prices steady. Trade in ewes is olow, with prices unchanged. Beef; For frozen beef, trade is slow. Chilled beef: Better prices this week owing to smaller supplies. New Zealand porkers: Usual seasonable slackening in demand, but prices firm. New Zealand baeoners: The market is steady and unchanged. HEMP AND TOW GRADINGS INCREASE DURING JUNE tradings of hemp and tow at Dominion ports last month show increases compared with those for June, 1935, the figures being as follows: 1035 3030 Incroaso. Of tho tow graded last month, six bales wore classed as first grade, 171 bales second grade, 121 bales third grade, and 59 bales condemned. Auckland graded 178 balds, Bluff 110 bales, Wellington 6o bales, and Picton 14 bales.-
