MOTOR REGISTRATION
PETITION IN VICTORIA HUGE DOCUMENT PRESENTED MELBOURNE, July 8 A petition half a mile long, bearing the signatures of 36,073 "franchised citizens of Victoria," and wound on a large spool in the fashion of a surf reel, was presented to-day in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The request embodied in the petition was that Parliament should reduce the registration fees for motor-cars. The combined effort of two members failed to raise the petition from the floor so that it could "be upon the table of the House," and it was allowed to rest on the carpet near the clerk's table where members inspected the document, which was the most bulky ever accepted for transference to the archives of the House.
