PACIFIC SHIPPING
PROGRESS OF DISCUSSIONS
A FAVOURABLE OUTLOOK LONDON, July f> Sir Edward Beatty, president of Canadian Pacific Railway, has gone hack to Canada. Prior to his departure he said the discussions on the question of providing new tonnage for the New Zealand and Australian service had made considerable progress. He expected the final decision of the British and Dominion Governments within a few days. The Imperial Shipping Committee also was expediting its report. " The conference," said Sir Edward, " confirmed my belief that this essen--tial Imperial link should not be abandoned. Once a favourable decision is reached, plans for two 26,000-ton liners, with a speed of 22 knots, will be pressed forward."
