Williamson, Benson Road, Remuera. returned by the Monowai yesterday from an extended visit to Sydney. Mrs. Bruce Mackenzie has returned to her home in Princes Street, after having spent three weeks at her cottage at Waiwera. Mrs. G. H. Following the annual meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club last evening, the members and their wives were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. Hayward at the Tudor Theatre, Remuera. A five o'clock party in honour of Mr. Victor Jory, the film star, and Mrs. Jory, who are passing through Auckland on their way to Australia, was given at the Grand Hotel yesterday bv Mr. James W. Lear, the Columbia Picture representative. An enjoyable musical evening was given by Madame Leighton at her home in Mount Eden in connection with the Radiant Health Club, members and friends attending. Musical items were given by Mesdames Leighton. Lewis, Barton, Turner, Young and Miss Millard. Overseas visitors at the Grand Hotel include: —Mrs. M. Koper (Java), Mrs. F. Stephens and Miss E. Pollard (Melbourne), Mrs. J. Hubbard (Paris), Miss E. Kellogg. Miss E. Vogel, Miss A. Davis, Miss D. Haglund. Miss B. Sledge, Miss F. Lochr and Miss C. Shoemaker (Honolulu). The monthly meeting of the Otahuhu Holy Trinity Branch of the Mothers' Union was held in the Parish Hall, the preliminary service being conducted by tho vicar,'the Rev. R. J. Stanton. At the social afternoon Mr. Stanton addressed the fathering on the "Oxford Group Movement" and was thanked for his interesting address. Afternoon tea was served by several of the members. An arrival by the Niagara from Vancouver yesterday was Miss E. D. Bowes, Dean of Women. Wesley College, Winnipeg. Miss Bowes, who is a traveller of wide experience, is on a short, visit to the Dominion and Australia. and she intends to lecture on her trip when she returns to Winnipeg She is a friend of the Rev. C. W. Gordon ("Ralph Connor"), who visited New Zealand over a year ago, and who told her of some of the beauty spots of the Dominion.
