HARRIER RACING

UNIVERSITY CLUB'S RUN The University Harrier Club held a run from Mission Bay on Saturday. The 25 runners present were divided into three packs, the fast pack being led by L. C. Barker, tho medium by J. Graham, and the slow by It. Kay. A course of about seven miles was covered and included mainly cross-country work of a very mixed nature. In tho fast pack Stevenson ran very smoothly, and was well supported by Haszard and L. Darker. A. Ball also showed excellent form, and it is pleasing to see his improvement each week. Respinger moved up from the medium pack, and should do well with tne fast pack. The slow and medium packs later combined and finished together after some solid running. Kenick showed a good turn of speed in finishing first. Other men well up at the finish were Graham, Woodhead and Valla nee. Another sprint was held for the Kohn Cup, the placings being as follows: —Maxwell, scr, 1; Stevenson, scr, 2; Ziman, 10yds, 3; Graham, Byds, 4; Kay, 10yds, 5; Wills, 10yds, y. PRESBYTERIAN CLUB Thirty-six ■ members of the Presbyterian Harrier Club ran in four packs from the Epsom Presbyterian Church on Saturday, an ideal trail being laid by Gladding and Neil. Buchanan and Boyd, in their first outing with tho racing pack, hung on well throughout. Brown being a fast pacemaker, nislop is still showing up well in the fast pack, and Young, pack leader, will be a very able man in the ten-men teams' race. After the run members were entertained at tho church by tho Rev. J. W. McKenzio, vice-president, and friends, to whom thanks were extended. The runs-in resulted as follows: —

BAPTIST AND WESLEY CLUBS About 50 runners of the Baptist and Wesley Clubs ran from the Sandringham Baptist Church on Saturday. Three packs, led by S. Edgar, W. Whitten and R. Pearce, followed a very muddy course over swamp and through gorse in tho direction of Mount. Roskill, Hillsborough, Waikowhai. nnd finally toward Blockhouse Bay. Results were:— Intermediate Pack. —C. Smith (Wesley), 1; D. Christopher (Wesley), 2; P. Crump (Wesley). 3; V. Carter (Wesley), 4; W. D. Reevely (Baptist), 5; T. Kelly (Baptist), 0. Slow Pack. —H. R. Smith (Wesley). 1; R. Pearco' (Baptist), 2; J. A. Jarret (Wesley), 3; A. Ilerdery (Baptist), 4; V. C. Coovell (Baptist), 5. LYNNDALE CLUB The Lynndale Harrier Club held a special training run over its club championship course of G l / miles on Saturday. There was a good attendance of harriers present. C. Davidson ran very strongly in the slow pack, nnd was well supported by Darbyshire. In tho intermediate pack, F. llenshall and A. Lowry. who were making a reappearance, rair well, although both faded slightly over the latter stage. Deputy-captain Rogers showed a return of his old form, as did Anderson and T. Henshall. These three and Collins were prominent all the way. Briggs, Dolan and Pdrrctt led the first pack, all of whom were very fit. It was a hard run, but the form displayed augurs well for the club's showing in the harrier championship on Saturday week. TECHNICAL CLUB The harriers of the Technical Athletic Club held a run from tho dressing sheds on tho Onehunga Beach on Saturday. A strenuous course of some six miles, comprising both road and country, was covered. One pack under the leadership of J. Mortimer competed, and some fast running was seen. Brierly and Cs.tes were always in front, while two young runners in Thorpe and White, tho latter a. brother to the harrior captain, showed great premise.
