STRUGGLE IN AMBULANCE
DRUNKENNESS AND MISCHIEF COURT FINES OFFENDER Charges of drunkenness and mischief, by wilfully damaging a St. John ambulance to the extent of £l, were preferred against Jack Nelson Hoskin. aged 29, in the Police Court on Saturday before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M, Sub-Inspector Fox said accused fell down in Queen Street at 5.15 p.m. on Friday and was carried into the post office entrance while an ambulance was summoned. He began to struggle and kick in the ambulance and damaged the roof and interior of the vehicle. On arrival at the hospital it was found that drunkenness was his only trouble. On the charge of drunkenness accused was convicted and fined 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. On the mischief charge he was fined a similar sum and ordered to make restitution of the damage done, in default seven days' imprisonment.
