KITCHEN EVENING
OKORGiRE GATHERING
The residents of Okoroire and surrounding districts organised a delightfully enjoyable social event on Tuesday, when they held a kitchen evening in Okoroire Hall in honour of Miss Hilda Hard wick, who is to be married shortly. The hall was beautifully decorated with pink, mauve and white-shaded streamers, and dance music was provided by Mrs. J. McLaren and Messrs. Fleming and Attwood.
During the evening Mr. P. Dee, acting as chairman, expressed the esteem with which Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hardwick and their family were held in the Okoroire district, and presented the guest of honour with a wonderfully varied assortment of kitchen utensils. Mr. It. Hayes spoke on behalf of the tennis club, and wished Miss Hardwick joy and happiness in her future life, presenting her with a silver sugar basin and cream jug, as a token of good fellowship from the tennis club members. In the absence of Mr. D. E. Aldridge, the prospective bridegroom, who was unable to attend the function, Mr. Charles G. Hardwick thanked all present for their kindness. Mr. W. B. Hardwick also expressed his appreciation and proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the inner committee of ladies and gentlemen who were responsible for organising the evening. Gallery, Miss D. Peterson, Miss J. Lee, Miss E. Goodwin, Miss E. Barker.
