JAPANESE RIOTERS
CHINESE CUSTOMS INCIDENT
BRITISH RESIDENCE RUSHED (Received June 28, 0.35 p.m.) SHANGHAI, Juno 27 A message from the port of Tsingtao states that, arising from incidents at Tsingtao and Chikou when Chinese Customs cutters fired on Japanese vessels which wero alleged to have been carrying contraband, Japanese rioters to-day tried to rush the home of a British subject, Mr. A. Campbell, Commissioner to the Chinese Customs.
The police dispersed the rioters after half an hour and prevented them from setting fire to the building w 'h petrol. Two Japanese destroyers have arrived in the troubled area.
