Preparations are well advanced' for the Whangarei Winter Show, which will be opened on Tuesday by the Minister of 'Agriculture, the Hon. W. Leo Martin, The Minister will arrive by motor-car from Auckland on Monday evening and will bo welcomed by tho Whangarei Borough Council and other local bodies. Prior to the official opening of the show, the Whangarei Rotary Club will hold a luncheon for farmers at whOh Mr. Martin will be present.

A Rugby football match .will take place on the afternoon of July 2 between tho Kia Toa Maori senior team and a team selected from tho visiting Maori haka competitors. The Maori halca and poi dancing competitors, numbering approximately 400, will arrive on Wednesday and will camp in Kensington Park.

Judging in the primary schools schedule has been completed. The entries numbered 1059, a record for the society for this class. The judge, Mr. F. Brown, of Auckland, said the work was of an exceptionally high class.
