CHARITY DANCE

ATTA TAXI COMPANY CRIPPLED CHILDREN'S FUND In spite of unfavourable weather there was a large attendance of enthusiastic dancers at the Charity Ball, organised by the Atta 'iaxi Company, in aid of the Auckland Crippled Children's Fund, held in Scots Hali. Symonds Street, last evening. The ballroom had been attractively decorated with multi-coloured streamers and huge bunches of balloons, which were later released among the guests. Empire Hags and foliage 011 the stage aud flanking the walls added further colour to the scene. The programme included modern and old-time daxices and prizes, which had been donated by various firms in the citv, were presented to the winners of the dance competitions. Adding considerably to the evening s enjoyment were piauo-accordeon items given by Mr. It. Jury, an exhibition of modern ballroom dancing by Miss Thornton and Mr. Cassels-Brown, and a display of tap dancing by Mr. and Mrs. George Cox aud Mr. R. Hall. The wives of the directors and members of the ladies' committee present included: —Mrs. T. Anderson, who wore black cire s&tin; Mrs. Frank Drummond, in floral georgete; Mrs franklin Smith, magnolia satin; Mrs. A. Christie, mulberry suede crepe; 31rs. J. Elliott, bottle green satin; Mrs. F. Dye, cherry ring velvet; Mrs. S. Ryan, black satin and lace; Mrs. Roy Jordan, black souple satin; Miss S. Whitakoi, gold crep<s Miss Edna Walrond, bottle green satin aud gold lame; Miss Kathleen Ogier, petunia crepe. Others present were:—Mrs. 11. Fuller, Mrs. J. Callaghan, Mrs. J.
