£9,000,000 INTERNAL LOAN AMOUNT UNDER-SUBSCRIBED (Received June 18, 12.25 a.m.) CANBERRA. June 17 The Commonwealth's internal loan of £9,000,000 closed £1,800,000 short, the amount subscribed being £7,200,000. The underwriters will make good the shortage. j The Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Casey, states that the subscribers numbered 7650. He says failure to obtain the full amount is attributed to the improvement in business conditions, more outside avenues being available now for the investment of capital than during the depression. CASH APPLICATIONS dealings at a discount (Received, June 17, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 16 The Evening News states that cash applicants for the Australian • loan up to £IO,OOO received the full allotment. After that thp basis of allotment was approximately' 68J per cent of requirements. Dealings in the issue opened at oneeighth discount.
