WEDDING
SPIERS—KARL The marriage was solemnised at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, Hamilton, between Eileen Mary, third daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Karl, of Paterangi, and Leonard Edward, second son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Spiers, of To Awamutu. The Rev. Father O'Flynn, assisted by the Rev. Father Fa hey, celebrated Nuptial Mass and Mr. J. Hatters by presided a,t the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr. Loo Karl, woro a beautiful gown of heavy magnolia satin cut on classical lines, the skirt falling to form a graceful oval train. She wore a lovely veil of billowing tulle falling from a vandyked lace halo and carried a bouquet of orchids, cream poppies and maidenhair fern. Miss Kitty Karl, sister of the bride, and .Miss Enid Spiers, sister of the bridegroom, were the bridesmaids, and Miss Valerie Tarr, niece of the bride, was the llowergirl. The bridesmaids wore frocks of marina green cloque cut on simple straight lines with high swathed neckline in front and high neck at the back caught with a round diamante button. Tho skirts fell gracefully to a slight train and the waistline was belted. The little flowergirl wore a frock which was an exact replica of the bride's gown, and a similar vandyked halo. She carried a posy of cream Iceland poppies, paper whites and maidenhair fern. Mr. Phil Spiers, of Wellington, brother of the ' bridegroom, was the best man and Mr. Clarrie Craig, of Te Awamutu, groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Centreway rooms. The beautiful three-tiered wedding cake was a gift to the bride and groom from Mr. D. Stormont, of Auckland. During the reception incidental music was played by an instrumental trio. A duet by the Misses Reine and Roselle Belle, of Pirongia, was very greatly appreciated. The guests were received by Mrs. Karl, wearing a smart navy tailored ensemble, navy felt hat and furs. She carried a posy of crimson flowers and leaves and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom's mother was ! wearing a navy tailored costume, smart i navy hat and grey furs, and carried a posv of golden Iceland poppies and fern. When Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Spiers left by car for a honeymoon tour of the North Island the bride wore a charming brown and white flecked wool suit with toning hat and brown accessories.
