LOCAL BODY EMPLOYEES
PROPOSED SINGLE UNION PAEROA COUNCIL IN FAVOUR [by telegraph OTX correspondent] PAEROA, Friday The scheme for a local body employees' union wa9 the subject of a letter from the Napier Borough Council received at a meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council last night. The Mayor, Mr. W. Marshall, spoke in favour of one union for all employees. Mr. Flatt said that employees' point of view one union would make things difficult. Mr. Webb counselled caution in the matter and Mr. Brenan said the council had to consider, the matter from an administrative point of view. The last-named moved that the proposal be supported, and the motion was carried, Mr. Webb dissenting. The council considered application# for the position of assistant town clerk, and Mr. M. C. Ensor, of Thames, was appointed. In recognition of his services to the borough it was decided to name a new street De Castro Street, after the late Mr. G. P. De Castro, who was for some years a member of the council.
