AIRSHIP SERVICE
GERMAN PLANS CROSSING THE TASMAN PASSENGERS AND MAIL The establishment of an airship service between Australia and New Zealand is now being considered by German interests, according to Mr. Lars G. Brundabl, trade commissioner for the Leipzig Fair, who arrived from San Francisco by the Mariposa yesterday on his way home to Sydney after a visit to Europe. Mr. Brundabl said that ho had been asked to investigate the possibility of an airship servieo from Sydney to some point in the Dominion, and intended to approach the Commonwealth and Now Zealand Governments on the question. It would be possible to supply a suitable airship, which would be able to carry 40 passengers and mail, and make the crossing of the Tasman in 18 hours. Mr. Brundahl has also been asked to negotiate with the Commonwealth Government with a view to arranging for a Jliglit to Sydney by one of Germany's latest airships in 1938, when the 150 th anniversary of the city, and organised settlement in Australia, will ho celebrated.
