NORTHLAND LEAGUE

MATCH WITH ENGLISH TEAM [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday A meeting of the Northlnnd Rugby League was held last evening, when arrangements for the forthcoming visit of the English League team were considered. Mr. E. Stn 11worthy, North Auckland delegate on the New Zealand Council, was present. He visited Jubilee Park, where the visitors will meet the local players, and expressed himself as very pleased with the improvements effected during the summer. Mr. Stallworthy informed the meeting that the English match in Whangarei will take place on Thursday, August 13, instead of the previous day, the council having made this decision in order to allow the visitors to spend a few days in Rotorua. The English team will arrive in Whangarei on the Wednesday afternoon, returning to Auckland ou Friday morning. It was decided to extend a reception to the visitors on their arrival, and a social in the evening. The Whangarei Chamber of Commerce is to be nsked to have places of business closed during the progress of the match, so that business people and employees may attend.
