TARIFF AGAINST JAPAN
BRITISH MOVES QUESTIONED SMUGGLING IN NORTH CHINA LONDON, May 81 The Tokio correspondent of tho Daily Telegraph reports that certain circles accuse Britain of instigating tho increased Australian tariff against .Japan. IJcsentmont is increased by tho belief that Britain is also behind America's increased duties.
It is suggested that this action is being taken by Britain and America in retaliation for Japaneso smuggling in North China and the consequent evasion of Customs duties on goods in which British investors are interested.
