RONGOTAI AERODROME
EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT FIRE-FIGHTING AND AMBULANCE [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Monday A one-man firo fighting, salvage and ambulance tender has been acquired by the Wellington City Council for use in case of fire or accident at Bongotai aerodrome. The plant is mounted on a half-ton truck. The equipment includes a .'3O gallon container and two hand cylinders of patent fire extinguisher and an asbestos suit and oxygen container for the fireman. A first aid chest and stretcher are also provided. The object is to provide a unit combining equipment to meet any emergency with a high degree of mobility. It is the first of its kind in New Zealand for a civil aerodrome, although similar facilities exist at Hobsonville Air Base and Wigram Aerodrome.
