AFTERNOON RECEPTION

VISITING FRENCH SLOOP Dancing made very enjoyable entertainment on board the French sloop Savorgnan de Brazza yesterday afternoon on the occasion of the At Homo given by Commander L. Robert to tlio manv friends, which he and his officers have made during their brief visit to Auckland. The upper deck had been enclosed with awnings and flags and as they fluttered in the breeze ulimpses of brilliant sunshine and the deep blue of the harbour caught the iye. It was an ideal winter's day and the bracing aii made dancing doubly pleasant. Refreshments were served in another enclosure at the further end of the deck. On arrival the guests, who included naval, military and air force representatives, members of the consular corps and their wives, representatives of the civic authorities as well as various clubs and private friends, were received by the Consul for France, M.
