MR. T. D. MACKLOW The denth has occurred at Kllorslie of Mr. Thomas Dennis Macklow, 7-5 years. Ml\ Macklow came to JNew Zealand in the ship .Liverpool when three years of age to join hU father, i who was farming at Warkworth. With j two brothers, he founded the firm of ! Macklow Brothers, timber merchants, of Warkworth, and later of Auckland. Ho later turned his attention to house properties. Mr. Macklow was wellknown in bowling circles, being one of the earliest members of the Ellerslie Bowling Glub. He is survived bv his wife, two sons, and two daughters. There aro five grandchildren. MR.*RICHARD MACKAY The death has occurred at the age of 84 of Mr. Richard Mackav, who, since his arrival in Auckland when three years old, had lived in the one bouse in Graham Street, City. Mr. Mackav used to speak of the time when there were only two houses in St. Mary's Bay Road, and when residences in Ponsonby had to be approached manuka tracks. He remembered seeing as many as 40 canoes from Maori pas lying 011 the beach at Freeman's Bav\ Mr. Mackay's father was engaged in the construction of gun-boats for use 011 the Manuka 11 Harbour and on the Waikato River against the Maoris, and be himself after il period at sea joined his father as a ship's carpenter. He finally entered the engineering trade and was foreman in charge of the construction of the sheerlegs nt Devonport. Monday The death has Occurred of Mr. Robert Richard White, of Mercury Bay. at the age of 82 years. Born at Matata, Bay of Plenty, Sir. White moved to Mercury Bav while still a young man and there engaired in timber contracting nild boat building, Some Aucklaliders will remember the racing skiffs he built and his rowing prowess nt the Auckland regattas. Mrs. White died 15 years ago. There are two sons and five daughters. MR. WILLIAM DONALDSON [from our own correspondent] WHANGARISI, Mondny The death occurred at Whareora yesterday of Mr. William Donaldson, aped 63, a lifelong resident of the district. He was a. son of the late Mr. John Donaldson, one of the earliest pioneers of the Whangarei district, and was born at Glenbervie, near Whareora. On the death of his father he farmed part of bis father's farm. He married Miss L. Brown, a resident of this district. Mr Donald?.' ;i was a member of the Whareora Road Board for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, one son and 0110 daughter. MRS. MARY JANE RYAN [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI. Mondny The denth occurred yesterday of Mrs. Mary .Tan© Ryan, aged 84, at the residence of her sister, Mrs. J. J. Fraser, Kamo Road, Whangaroi. Mrs. Ryan, who was one of the oldest pioneers of the Auckland district, was the eldest of a family of 12 phildren. her parents being Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Moonc.v, of Mangawai, She was born at Auckland, and in 187(3 married Mr, John Henry Ryan, a farmer of Mangawai. The whole of their married life was spent in Mangawai. Her husband died nbout 6 years ago at the age of 79. Mrs. Ryan was an active member of the Anglican Church and her homo wrs always open to ministers of all denom* inations whom she assisted in their work. She took a very active part in the advancement of the district. She is survived by three sons. There aro 14 Grandchildren and two grent grandchildren. MR. W. A. LUCAS The death has occurred of Mr. William Arnold Lucas, aged 71, of Dunedin. Mr. Lucas was best known as manager of the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association of Otago, a position he held for 27 years, resigning about seven years ago. He was known by commercial men from all parts of the world, especially by those from Australia, and New Zealand.
