WAIKATO SHOW

RECORD DOOR TAKINGS

FINE CAMERA STUDIES POULTRY EXHIBITION TO-DAY [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday With the door-takings £427 in excess of those received for the first five days of last year's fixture, the Waikato Winter Show continues to attract great crowds, who find unending interest in the numerous and varied exhibits and the many entertainments provided for them. The association has been extraordinarily fortunate with respect to the weather, every day being brilliantly fine. The concert programmes every evening are always largely attended and lire much appreciated. A remarkable feature of this year's exhibition has been the wonderful display of photographs. The entries this year arc three times greater than those received Inst year or in any previous year.

Commenting on the exhibits, the judge, Mr. H. JO. Gaze, F.R.P.S., said tho examples of work shown were of a higher standard, not only technically, but in conception and in composition, than had appeared before. A notable feature of the competitions, said Mr. Gaze, was tho reappearance of work by some photographers who were among the foremost camera pictorinlists in New Zealand. Throughout almost all tho classes there was a marked improvement in technique and process work, and there was also considerably greater evidence of inauguration and originality. Considering tho work as n whole, it was a credit to the exhibitors, to the Waikato Winter Show Association, and to all those connected with its promotion, said Mr. Gaze. Concluding, tho judge said four at least of the camera studies shown would grace tho walls of any Continental salon. A feature of the show to-morrow will be the opening of tho poultry show, for which a largo number of entries has been received. Fancy and utility birds of all classes will be exhibited. The championship of tho North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association for certain types of Wynndottcs will bo decided. Results are:—
