MODERN EQUIPMENT FOR THE LOCATION OF AIRCRAFT-AT NIGHT: EXERCISES CARRIED OUT AT NARROW NECK CAMP Success attended the first efforts of a detachment of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, to locate aeroplanes flown over the military camp at Narrow Neck last night by Royal New Zealand Air Force officers. Left: A sound locator in use. Right: One of the new mobile searchlights. The direction and altitude of the aeroplane are determined by means of the sound locator and the machine is then sought with the aid of the searchlights. The exercises will be continued until Thursday.
