SOCIAL CREDIT
ALBERTA EXPERIMENT STATEMENT BY PREMIER An article from Vancouver, published in the Herald, which stated that social credit was a dead issue iu Alberta and out of favour all over Canada, was forwarded to the Premier of Alberta, Mr. William Aberhart, by Mr. D. K. Duncan, of Auckland. Mr. Duncan has received the following reply from Mr Aberhart: — " The press statement from the New Zealand Herald alleging social credit to be a dead issue in Alberta is utterly false. On the contrary, it is a very live issue. The Government has not thrown up the sponge with respect to social credit, nor has it any intention of doing so. Enabling legislation passed at the recently closed session of the Alberta legislature gives us power to proceed with the application of social credit principles. A careful inquiry will be made with a view to devising the very best plan of operation. We shall endeavour to avoid mistakes and pitfalls that will undoubtedly be placed in our way. The refusal of Major Douglas to come to Alberta in accordance with the terms of his contract has by no means weakened the social credit movement in this province, nor has it lessened the determination of the social credit forces to carry out the programme for which a mandate was received from the electorate."
