KING EDWARD
DATE OF CORONATION ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED BROADCAST ARRANGEMENTS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received May 28, G. 5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, May 27 It is anticipated that the date of King Edward's coronation will be made public to-morrow. The final decision will be made by the Privy Council at a meeting iri the morning and the Prime Minister, Mr. Baldwin, is expected to make an announcement in the House of Commons in the afternoon.
The proclamation concerning the coronation will be broadcast from the Empire station at Daventry to-morrow from about 8.50 a.m. to 9.30 a.m., Greenwich mean time. Subsequently electrical recordings will bo broadcast at 2 p.m., 5.15 p.m. and 9.20 p.m., and at 1 a.in. and 5.15 a.m. on Saturday.
Allowing for summer time in England, the broadcasts and recordings referred to in the cablegram will be at the following hours, New Zealand time:—To-day, 7.20 p.m. to 8 p.m.; to-morrow, 12.30 a.m., 3.45 a.m., 7.50 a.m., 11.30 a.m. and 3.45 p.m. Station IYA Auckland will bo rebroadcasting the Daventry short-wave station to-morrow. afternoon. A cablegram from London on May 24 stated:—The Daily Mail announces that the coronation of King Edward will take place on Thursday, May 27, 1937. It says the King next Thursday will sign an Order-in-Council setting in motion the coronation arrangements. On Friday Kings of Arms in scarlet and gold robes, with Heralds and Pursuivants. will proclaim the coronation date at Temple Bar, Charing, Cross, the Royal Exchange and St. James' Palace.
