STORMS IN TASMAN
NEW SOUTH WALES LASHED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE SYDNEY, May 2G Terrific seas again lashed the coast of New South Wales yesterday, and cyclonic conditions still cover a wide range of the Tasman Sea. Coastal shipping was hampered and many vessels were forced to run for shelter. Mountainous seas caused hundreds of pounds' worth of damage at Byron Bay, where pounding waves washed away the terrace and undermined a large factory building, which ultimately collapsed. A quantity of metal and products was washed into the sea, but costly machinery was salvaged. At Brunswick Heads waves broko over the promenado wall, invading private property and causing heavy damage. The Wanganolla escaped the worst of the stormy conditions in the Tasman, the passengers stating that she had had quite a fair trip from, New Zealand.
