He is to preside at sittings of the Supreme Court in Hamilton. Mr. G. Mills, Mayor of Birkenhead left for Wellington by the limited express last evening on borough business and expects to return at the end of the week. Mr. A. J. Parker, a member of the Auckland Harbour Board, was yesterday granted three months' leave of absence by the board to enable him to visit Australia.
The Hons. J. Alexander and T. Bloodworth, M.L.C.'s, and Messrs. C"lt R. Petrie and F. W. Schramm, M.P.V left for Wellington by the limited exl press last evening.

Mr. R. Trenchard Smith, of the Auckland executive staff of J. Inglig Wright, Limited, advertising agents, has been elected a Fellow of the Advertising Association of Australia.
Mr. D. Henry, president of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation, left for Wellington by the limited express last evening. He expects to return to Auckland to-morrow morning.
Mr. W. E. Anderson, secretary of the Auckland Employers' Association, left for Wellington by yesterday after-, noon's express to attend an executive meeting of the Employers' Federation.
Mr. J. T. Carswell was elected chairman of the Southland Electric-Power Board yesterday in succession to the late Mr. William Hinchey, says a Press Association message from Invercargill.
Mr. D. Wilson, national secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, will arrive from the South to-morrow and in the evening will be tendered a r&ception in the new club rooms in Pacific Buildings.
Mr. J. H. W yatt, who has been manager of the Pukekohe branch of the National Bank of New Zealand for the past six years, has been transferred to Wellington. He will be succeeded by Mr. J. L. Barriball, accountant at the Christchurch. branch. 1
Mr. A. Wilson, an engineer, in the employ of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, is a through passenger by the Niagara, which arrived from Sydney yesterday. He is to make a world tour to study the latest developments in the generation of electricity.
