UNTRUE STATEMENT
NATURALISATION PAPERS £lO FINE AND £l9 COSTS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NAPIER, Saturday A fine of £lo' for making a false declaration in regard to naturalisation papers was imposed on Prano Markovina in the Supreme Court at Napier to-day. Counsel said accused met with two serious accidents in Auckland shortly after his arrival in New Zealand and that probably had much to do with his offence. He was highly respected in business circles in Hastings. His Honor said he did not propose to send Markovina to gaol, but would impose a fine of £lO. One month would be allowed in which to pay. Accused was also ordered to pay £l9 costs.
