Wednesday An extensive search has failed to re. veal the whereabouts of Megan John the 12-year-okl daughter of Mrs. E. John, of Wilson Street, who has been missing since Monday. The girl left New Plymouth on Monday morning in. stead of going to school at Vogeltown and when it was ascertained that she had not been to school a search for her was at once instituted and the police were informed. On Monday night it was discovered that the girl had called at the Mangorei dairy factory during Monday morning and that she had also received some refreshments at the house of Mr. W. Good, Tariki. The girl must subsequently have received a ride, for a child who appeared to answer her description arrived at the Stratford women's restroom early in the afternoon, and remained there till 8.15 p.m. In answer to inquiries this girl said she was waiting for an aunt, with whom she was to travel to Auckland by Monday night's train. The guard who was in charge of that train, Mr. C. Milligan, was seen by the Auck« land police yesterday, and hj& stated that so far as he was aware no child answering the description of Megan John had travelled by the train. Inquiries have been, made in all directions, and the search is being continued extensively, but so far no trace' hag been found of the child since she vat seen at the Stratford restroom.
