QUEEN CARNIVAL
CORONATION CEREMONY The dignified pomp and measured ceremony, the scarlet, the velvet and the sparkle of jewellery associated with a Hoval coronation, transformed the Scots Hall last evening, when, as a culmination to the queen carnival held nfc Ponsonby over the past three months, Miss Dorothy Lynno (Band Queen) was crowned Queen of Ponsonby. The carnival was conducted in aid of funds to assist the Ponsonby Boys' Brass Band, the Ponsonby Swimming and Life-sav-ing Club, and the Ponsonby United Rugby League Club The stage was arranged to make an attractive setting for the large gold throne, and Mr. N. Kerr carried out the duties of high chancellor. Mr, H. Da vies was ambassador of the queen. Other office-bearers were: —Mr. Dennis Johns, chamberlain; Miss N. Williams, crown-bearer; Miss Grace, swordbearer; Miss I. Murrav, sceptre-bearer; M iss E. Tuttle, orb-bearer; Messrs. H. W. Davies and H. McDonald, heralds; Messrs. C. Ibbertson, R. Wheeler and T. Harp, masters of ceremonies. Miss Dorothy Lynne, Band Queen and Queen of Ponsonby, wore a gown of ivory satin beaute, with a silver tiara and ceremonial train of scarlet and ermine. She was attended by Misses Nellie Austin and Joyce Courtenay as maids of honour, wearing short capes of scarlet, their queen's colour, over ivory satin gowns; Misses E. Tilsley, E. Knight, K. Warn, M. Sommcrville, S. Knight and B. Grace, as pages, and Misses Lynne, Corkran, Moore (2), O'Connor and McKinnon as flower girls. M iss Mona Leydon, princess of swimming, was gowned in ivory satin with a white ermine-trimmed train and was attended by Misses Jesmond Hiscott and Lena Eraser, gowned in white, their princess' carnival colour, and Misses P. Moore and M. Olsen as pages. Miss Irene Robertson, princess of the Rugby League Club, wore a ceremonial train of blue, her carnival colour, over an ivory satin gown. She was attended by Misses C. Morris and D. Howell as maids of honour, and Miss Kathleen Lynne and Miss Joyce Trewheela as pages. Bands in attendance were the Ponsonby Boys' Brass Band, the Balmoral Boys' Brass Band, and the Girls' Brass Band. Dancing followed the conelusion of tlie coronation ceremony.
